In June, 2015, Appleton and DePere will welcome back the 2015 US Youth Soccer Region II Championships for the third time.

The Regional Championships are part of the US Youth Soccer National Championship Series and Wisconsin is located in Region II. There are four regions in the Country and each Region will hold an annual tournament to decide that Regions top teams and to see who advances to the National Championships in July.

In Region II there are 14 states besides Wisconsin; Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio North, Ohio South, and South Dakota.

The entire cycle starts with the State Cups. Teams have to qualify for their individual State Cup, play through their State Cups and finish at the top of their bracket to be eligible to play in the Regional Championships. Only the top teams, from U-13 to U-19, boys and girls, will compete at the Regional Championship.

The Fox Cites and De Pere was selected to host the 2015 Championships partially because we have excellent facilities between DePere and Appleton, but more importantly, each prior time the Championships have been held here, the communities, soccer supporter from throughout the state and the people volunteering made all the participants feel welcome and appreciated. This Championship would not be possible without all the wonderful volunteers. For all of you who volunteered in the past, thank you.

So now you may be thinking, ‘great, what’s the big deal’? I’m glad you asked.  If you enjoy watching soccer consider coming to one of the locations and take in a great day of very high level soccer.  If you sign up to volunteer for one of the many areas available, your parking will be free.  You will also get a tournament t-shirt and an invite to attend the ‘Volunteer Appreciation Party’ which this year will be held at the Timber Rattle Stadium on Tuesday June 23 in the evening. This tournament wouldn’t be possible without a lot of work by many people.

Come out and watch!  While there offer to volunteer.

Bring your player with you, the level of play is outstanding and both you and your child will be impressed.
